What is Whole Wheat Penne Pasta?

Whole wheat penne pasta is a type of pasta with a tube shape of about 45mm in length and 12mm in width. The ends are cut on a slant and the pasta has tiny vertical ridges. Whole wheat penne is a light brown/beige color and hard when uncooked. Once boiled it is soft and chewable, while holding its form. The flavor is mild and nutty and pairs best with a sauce such as marinara, but can be used in many savory dishes.
